So we finally made the move to our new crib. Only things left in the old shack are our plates, the mini-ref, some clothes, and a bookshelf. It has been surprisingly easy to move in and settle down to the new crib.
We definitely have to buy some stuff. A new bed is definitely needed since the new dimensions of our bedroom does not accomodate our stinky and raggedy old bed (it is time to let her rest, that bed will be reincarnated as a seating mat in our living area soon enough). Aside from the bed, we need new cleaning materials and have the DSL transferred and we are all set.
In the half day we have spent in the crib, we have paid for higher rent and probably higher utilities (I am hoping that the airconditioning will not be a daily habit). Water costs is 5 bucks more expensive although we only have to wait for it to be delivered to our doorstep, so we have eliminated the transportation costs. Similarly, I think our laundry can function the same way.
Only thing we have to buy outside is the food, unless I just start having them delivered.
Five minutes walk to work for me and I was 30 minutes early. So I eliminated my transport costs and my regular pay deductions from my undertime and tardiness. Cheaper commute for Pong as well and he was an hour early for work too. So we reduced his transport costs and eliminated tardiness deductions as well.
We are both looking at the next few weeks full of overtimes. This time, I am not apprehensive about Pong staying at work late. I live in a safe neighborhood and I am five minutes walk away from my office. I do not fear rainy nights since I know that our area will not get flooded anyway. I can also stay here in the office till late and I would not have to take a cab to go home.
In a month, we will know exactly how much the new crib cost us. We made this move because I believe that this saves us money in the end. I wonder if I was right.

Only pending task for us is to scour our new neighborhood for cheap food places. That ultimately determines our savings on this new crib.
